Who We Are...

3rd Platoon was formed in 2017 by a group of friends that were interested in eschewing the traditional living history approach of portraying one specific unit. Instead, we view each event as a unique, one-off scenario where we completely change our look to be the most accurate for that timeline. We take a fresh look at which unit, insignia, uniforms, and field gear would be most appropriate, issue a wear list, and equip accordingly. Thus we may be 82nd Airborne at Market Garden one month and the in next we'll be 9th Infantry in Tunisia, 1943.

3rd Platoon does not have any permanent non-commissioned officer (NCO) positions; all members' base rank is Pvt/PFC, and any member may volunteer for a leadership position for any single event. While performing in that role, they would wear the rank appropriate for that position for that event only. NCO positions are available based on the number of men being fielded by 3rd Platoon at that specific event.

This method of looking at events affords maximum accuracy, but requires a wide variety of uniforms and field gear, as well as constant attention to insignia, which can involve lots of sewing and changing uniform components. This unit is not meant for people starting the hobby and is ideal for experienced reenactors that already have their uniforms and gear, as well as a willingness to consistently change insignia and rank.

3rd Platoon members are based throughout California and a few outlying states. Our events generally consist of private tactical battles with the California Historical Group (CHG), as well as several public events and displays in the Southern California area. We do also attend certain out-of-state events on an annual basis.
